What are the 3 smallest gold coins?
I am new to gold coins, so sorry for the rather ignorant question. What are the three smallest denominations in pre-1933 U.S. Gold coins that are easy to get and plentiful?
|
Re: What are the 3 smallest gold coins?
$1.00, $2.50 (quarter eagle), & $3.00. The $3.00 coins are generally going to be more costly. If you discount the $3 coin then the next denomination up the ladder is a half eagle: $5.00, followed by eagles ($10.00), and double-eagles ($20.00)
There are different types of all the denominations except for the $3 coin. |

You missed the $4 Stellas! :D Those will run VERY high though. http://coins.blanchardonline.com/coi...lar-stella.php |

Punchy ... don't overlook the neighbours
A nice $1 twentith gets you started at .9999 instead of mucking about with inferior grades;) |
Re: What are the 3 smallest gold coins?
Punchy ask for the smallest denomination coins that are plentiful and easy to get. I don't consider Stella's as plentiful and easy to get.

My dad used to have a special issue 1/20 eagle I believe. Tiny it was. I believe it was an eagle at least, but don't fer sher recollect.

No doubt, that's why it was a tongue in cheek comment. |
Not a U.S.A. gold coin
Mexican "Dos Peso" look it up.

I like the 2 1/2 peso - you can actually see it!
16 of them are almost an ounce |

Mexican gold coins, even in uncirculated condition can be had for spot or below on eBay. I should know, I just picked up a 5 pesos for 109FRN today. The Great Ag |
Re: What are the 3 smallest gold coins?
What about junk gold coins from Canada? I'm a little leery about bullion coins.

Re: What are the 3 smallest gold coins?
Canada is a small country population wise, older coins are Sovereigns and half Sovereigns, newer coins are in very short supply. If you want cheap but better known gold coins, you need to go south. Mexican Peso coins (gold) are your best bet. IMHO.:bear_w00t:
